The Methodist Connexion
This is the term used to describe the
Methodist Church linked together through Circuits and Districts.
These form the Connexion.
The Methodist Connexion can be compared
with the communion of saints; it is awfully difficult to
explain, but you are glad it is there. The Connexion is a
two-way process. It is an interdependence, a mutual support, a
focus for vision and a tremendous support.
"It is being
caught up in the Connexion that saves me and the churches I
serve from being small minded, introverted Christians, who would
turn our churches into little religious clubs. The Connexion is
always obliging us to think big as well as supporting us when we
attempt great things for God, or at least we attempt little
things in a great way".
Someone has described the Connexion as
"the bigger part of the local church; that which encourages us
and challenges us and broadens our horizons".
