Bible Reading Challenge 2010

Read the Entire Bible in One Year!

Read the whole bible? in one year? I can't do that!
Yes you can in just 15 a minutes a day.

How Can I do This?

There are a variety of ways to go about this daily scripture reading. Here are a few ways:

  1. Reading Your Favorite Bible - Using the yellow Bible Reading Challenge 2009 bookmark supplied by our church (Note: these are on the table outside of the church office), get into a comfortable chair in a quiet place and then go to the day number in the sequence of your reading schedule. Find the scripture reference, go to it in your favorite bible and then begin reading. Read the complete listed reference; no more no less. When your scripture reading is complete for the day mark through the passage on your bookmark showing it has been read. Commit to do this each day for a year. You will surprised at your accomplishment as you also will be blessed. You have read the entire bible - cover to cover!
Note: The remaining methods involved reading the bible on-line. If you are not inclined to do that sort of thing, please stick with method #1. However, if you are adventurous and technically inclined, spending much of your time at your PC like I do, then read on.
  1. On-Line from the Bible Gateway - The master list for creating the bookmark came from this web site, the Comprehensive Bible Reading plan. Click the corresponding daily bible passage. The linked reference will display on your pc. On this page the the text can be toggled between English or Spanish. Committing to reading these passages each day accomplishes the same goal of reading through the bible in one year. When your scripture reading is complete for the day mark through the passage on your bookmark showing it has been read.

  2. On-line from Our Web Site - Go to the UM Resources page of this web site and then scroll down to Bible Searches. Here you will find a "front end" for the Bible Gateway where you can enter a scripture verse from your bookmark and begin reading. While reading your computer room/area should be distraction free and the time dedicated to God. When your scripture reading is complete for the day mark through the passage on your bookmark showing it has been read. The Bible Gateway where the producers of the bible reading challenge scripture list.

  3. On your Mobile Phone  - You can do the same thing on your mobile phone, pocket-pc, pda or smart-phone. Go to http://mobile.biblegateway.com/ ( or type M.BibleGateway.Com). Remember to save this page to your phone browser favorites! At the top of the opening page is a search box for you to enter your daily scripture reference. Enter the chapter and verse, click search and you will be taken to the on-line bible of your choice to read directly on your phone. This is perfect for those away from home, away from your PC.

  4. Use the Bible Gateway's Calendar-Based Plan - The Bible Gateway maintains a Calendar-Based Bile Reading Plan. The calendar in in the upper-right corner of the page so any daily reading can be reread or referenced. The main body of the page is the daily reading for today or today's date. Committing to reading these passages each day accomplishes the same goal of reading through the bible in one year.

Take 30 minutes out of your busy day. Devote half of it to scripture reading and the other half talking with God in prayer. Tell Him what's going n in your life; ask him for the desires of your heart. Please remember that He is your Father that loves you.
